Well unfortunately, the snow never quite appeared on the slopes of Glenshee and remained long enough for us to get the training running again so that’s it for this year.
Thanks to all that were involved in the sessions that did go ahead and hopefully we’ll have a much better season next year and see lots of snow!!
Please could all trainees ensure that they return their gilets to their ski club representative by Friday 19th April.
Each club rep will have a list of the trainee’s gilet numbers to ensure that you are crossed off the list once returned. Should you need to arrange how best to return the gilets, please contact your club rep directly.
Thanks again and here’s to next year.

Well, for a short while there it was looking quite promising. However, latest reports are that whilst Glenshee has indeed had some snow, the available runs are very narrow and with a rising temperature conditions are as such that it’s not going to be enough to run the training this weekend.
So, yet again, training is postponed until next weekend (31st/1st) in the hope of another cold snap.
Apologies for once again being the bearer of bad news……..

Yes, you’ve guessed it……………………………………GPS Training for this weekend is cancelled due to spring like temperatures and a complete lack of white fluffy stuff, apart from on the sheep that is.
The Scottish Children’s Championship that was scheduled for Cairngorm has also been cancelled, but the Bairns Bucket is still due to go ahead, although they haven’t confirmed which day yet. For more information try www.britski.org which seems to be a bit more up to date than the Snowsports Scotland site.
Due to the fact that there has been very little response to previous emails, and the fact that the Children’s Race is cancelled, there will be no coach support at Cairngorm this weekend, apologies to those that did respond and are going to go.
Fingers crossed for a blizzard for the 24th/25th…..

For those that would like to take part in the racing at Cairngorm on the weekend of 17th/18th March, a GPS Coach will be there all weekend to help take you through the races. Children born between 1992-1995 can compete in the Scottish Childrens Championship which will give them the opportunity to compete against some good skiers and hopefully gain some decent seed points. There will be a Slalom on the Saturday and a Giant Slalom on the Sunday. Children will need to be registered with Snowsport Scotland and parents need to submit entries for their children.
For the slightly younger trainees, the Bairns Bucket race on Saturday 17th March will give those born in 1996 or earlier the chance to race against each other.
Further information on the race including entry details is available on the Snowsport Scotland website (the address is on the links page). There will be GPS Coach support on both days for any children/bairns taking part in the racing.
If you are interested in taking part in the race, please let your club representative know so that we can ensure that there is suitable coach support both at Cairngorm and for the groups who will attend the scheduled training at Glenshee.

Unfortunately, due to the last few days of warm weather and the forecast for the coming weekend, GPS Training has been cancelled. This is due to a lack of skiable area in which to run the training.
However, the Ski Centre will be opening some areas at the weekend so please don’t let this put you off supporting the Hill and going up for a ski!
An update regarding next weekend’s conditions will be sent out next Thursday (22nd Feb). So far the forecast looks a bit better into next week so fingers crossed!

Thanks to everyone who helped out to make it a fun day. Update on conditions for this weekend will be posted on Thursday.
Saturday, 10 February 2007
Meet at the Sport Anyway Building at 10.30am. Weather permitting the session will run all day based on Claybokie where the coaches will be setting up some poles and running some racing drills. If you arrive late, head up to Claybokie to join the group.
Road conditions are likely to be poor so please check the status of the road before you set off.
Hope to see you there.

Further to the official training being cancelled due to lack of skiable area and the wild weather forecast, some of the GPS coaches have offered to run a fun session on SUNDAY. This is will be at no cost to those that join in and will not count as one of the prepaid sessions but for those that are interested and weather permitting some of the coaches will be there if you want to join them. Please however note that some parental volunteers will be needed for supervision etc depending on numbers so help would be appreciated.
Further details on times and meeting points etc will be posted here on Saturday afternoon/evening so keep watching...

At the moment there’s not enough snow however more is forecast over the next 24 hours. It is unlikely that race training will go ahead this weekend however a final decision will be made at lunchtime tomorrow and will be posted here.
Please check back tomorrow for the final decision.

Well done to Ewen Matthews who finished 2nd in his age category (Children 1) and 4th overall in the Men's Slalom at this year's North East Children's Championship. Full race results can be found on www.snsc.demon.co.uk. Keep watching the Racing link for information on future races.

Saturday was a good day overall with clear skies and a useable amount of snow. Both groups did some very positive work with time spent looking specifically at posture and balance.
Sunday arrived windier and a fair bit damper! The snow wasn’t quite so good under skis and the sky wasn’t as good over head. Thank you to all 8 groups for arriving on time and making the distribution of gilets quick and easy! Unfortunately due to the weather worsening the decision was made to cancel the afternoon session following a successful morning, again looking at balance and posture – when everyone wasn’t being blown sideways!!
Overall, a good weekend with lots of smilie faces. Thanks to all for their help. Keep watching for updates, current reports are that the Dink Dink will be the only lift on Tuesday. See you soon
